Main Street Events

Over the years, the Buckeye Main Street Coalition has been responsible for developing or conducting the following events:

  • Buckeye Days Arizona Centennial Celebration - (January 27th, 28th, and 29th 2012)
  • 1st Annual Supper Bowl Yard Sale - (February 4th, 2012)
  • Pioneer Days - (March 17th, 18th 2012)

Main Street has delivered thousands of consumers directly to the doorsteps of downtown businesses. Some of the highest sales figures for downtown businesses have resulted from these events.

    CountryFest

This community wide festival celebrates the rich heritage of cotton farming that helped make the Buckeye Valley famous. When CountryFest began it was scheduled as a conclusion to the cotton harvest and to give the farmers a chance to come to town and have some fun. The Hallmark event of the weekend is "The Grand Parade" on Saturday mornings down Monroe Avenue. A little bit of everything can be seen in parade from Fire Trucks to cotton pickers to demolition derby cars.

In recent years we've added several other facets to our event including a classic car show, lawnmower drag races (These aren't your grandpa's lawnmowers!), "Nickels in the Cotton" a kids interactive event and a community meal, barbequed and served by the local Elks Lodge.

The CountryFest weekend reaches it's pinnacle on Saturday Night at the Fall Demolition Derby. Cars from across the Valley of the Sun come to town and crack 'em, whack 'em and in some cases stack 'em. The Derby is put on by the Buckeye Valley Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by businesses across the Buckeye Valley.

    The Holiday Glow on Monroe

This is an electric light parade in the feeling of the Disney light parades. It's a fun way to kick off the holiday season here in Arizona. Parade entrants have decorated School Busses, tractors and even a police car with thousands of holiday
lights. The glowing parade moves down Monroe Avenue under a darkened sky on the evening of the first Saturday of December.

Once the parade is complete, Santa Claus comes to town and lets the children of all ages sit on his lap and whisper their Christmas wishes in his ear. Children receive candy canes and other goodies after they talk to Santa.

This family event is the perfect way to get you in the holiday mood and to get your holiday spirit flowing.
